In 2018 Autism East Midlands merged with 25 year old Northamptonshire based autism charity, Autism Concern. This merger has not only increased the geographical reach of Autism East Midlands, as the charity now supports families in Northamptonshire, but it also increases the specialised knowledge of the charity. Autism East Midlands has inherited Autism Concern’s expertise and their services, please look below to find out how we now support individuals and families in Northamptonshire:

Building Better Opportunities: Working Progress Project
We are pleased to be a delivery partner for the BBO, which is funded by the National Lottery and the European Social Fund. This project helps get autistic people or people with ADHD closer to employment. For some, this could be a full-time position, but for others a big achievement would be volunteering for one afternoon a week. Our aim is to help individuals to step closer to employment.
Through the BBO Project we can support individuals through a variety of ways, such as;
- Helping the participant access counselling or training
- Bringing their CV up to date- or writing their first CV with them
- Practicing interview skills
- Showing them how to look for jobs
- Working with them to increase their confidence on public transport
- Supporting at Interview
- Training of fellow employees on autism/ADHD awareness
To be eligible for the project, a participant must have the right to work in the UK, not be in any paid employment, be 19 or over, and have ASD or ADHD, though a diagnosis is not necessary.
Please email: Northampton@autismeastmidlands.org.uk for a referral form.
Northampton Family Support Hub
Autism East Midlands have Family Support Hubs spread right across the region and in November 2019 Northampton opened its own hub. These hubs aim to be friendly and relaxed providing fun activities for the whole family to access. The hubs provide an opportunity to pick up information about other SEN/ASD friendly services in the local area, or have a chat with a staff member if information, advice or guidance is needed.
The Northampton Hub is based at Kingsthorpe Baptist Church, NN2 6QF and is held 4 – 7pm every first Monday of the month
