Introduction to Autism Parent Worksop
In this session we look very briefly into genetic and environmental risk factors for autism, before talking about diagnosis and the diagnostic criteria.
We look at the potential difficulties someone may have with:
- Social interaction and communication
- Routines
- Focused interests
- Sensory differences
We then look at the main areas of difficultly that parents of autistic children and young people may experience, such as:
- Meltdowns
- Sleep
- Executive function
- Schooling
- How to support their child or young person
Note: This is intended to be a ‘brief overview’ session rather than going into detail in any specific area.
