Family Support

Family Support Hubs

Our Family Support Hubs across the East Midlands provide a regular meeting point for families affected by autism. It gives people the chance to access activities for the whole family, as well as gain support and specialist information and advice.

Here are some of the dates of forthcoming meetings: 

  • Newark Hub
    • Salvation Army in Mead Way, Balderton, NG24 3GA – NEW dates to follow.

  • Derby City Hub will be meeting on the afternoons of Saturday 25 June, Saturday 30 July and Saturday 27 August. *Details and venues to follow soon. Follow our social media pages to keep up to date.

Online sessions

  • 25 May – There will be an online Introduction to Autism session for parents on 25 May between 7pm-8.30pm. All places need to be booked in advance as Zoom codes will be sent out to attendees before the session. To book, email Lesley.lock@aem.org.uk 
  • 22 June – Autism East Midlands will be supporting an online Accessing Public Services Toolkit workshop hosted by the charity Cerebra on 22 June between 10am and 12.30pm. The aim of the workshop is to support families who are encountering difficulties in the provision of health, social care and education support services. It provides advice about general strategies that parents can use to get the services that they need for their child and family. Parents interested in attending should contact Linsey Atkins at linsey.atkins@aem.org.uk by 15 June. To book you will need to supply your name, address, telephone number and your agreement for your details to be passed on to Cerebra for this workshop.
  • Thursday 7 July Promoting Positive Behaviour workshop will take place online and will be led by Kevin Pakenham of AEM Training between 7-8.30pm. Booking is through linsey.atkins@aem.org.uk
  • Date to be confirmed – Supporting Teenagers and Young People workshop is planned. Details to follow.
