Autism East Midlands’ annual Silly Sock Day is back!
On Friday 3rd April we are asking Schools, Businesses, community groups and other organisations to put on their silliest socks and help us to raise invaluable funds for Autism East Midlands and awareness of autism.
The aim of the day is to get people talking about autism in their place of work, school or online across Social Media, by using the hashtag #SillySockDay and posting a picture of their socks online. The day provides a platform for conversation to take place about autism, allowing autistic individuals to project their voice and providing opportunity for members of the public who perhaps don’t know a lot about autism to learn whilst taking part in a fun and engaging event.
#SillySockDay already has some fantastic partners who will be participating and raising awareness of autism on Friday 3rd April. These include: Leicester City Football Club, Unidays, Avant Homes, Notts County Football Club and Rolls Royce; who have shared with us why they wanted to get involved:
“Colourful socks and big engines don’t seem like a natural fit but being able to mix what we do every day with such a great cause just felt natural. It was great and a fun moment to share with our colleagues and see that we can work together in cutting edge technology and to try and change society for the better.” OJ Hemmings, Rolls Royce
