Jane prepares for concert

Music marvel Jane will be showcasing her extraordinary skills next month during a very special concert in Whitwell.

An Evening of Piano Music with Jane will take place at the Derbyshire Community Centre on Saturday 22nd April. Admission is free but organisers have said that people are able to make donations if they wish, with all donations going to Autism East Midlands.

Jane, 63, has enjoyed music since a very young age. She first began by playing the recorder, and after watching the Sound of Music film amazed everyone by quickly learning to play all the music from the film score. It was her recorder teacher who suggested that Jane learn to play the piano.

As both Jane’s father and grandfather played the piano, her parents decided to find a local piano teacher for her. And, as they say, the rest is history. Her father encouraged her love of music further and she went on to train at the prestigious Royal School of Music in London.

Over the years, she has performed at many concerts and still enjoys playing to an audience. These days she gets chance to regularly play a Bechstein piano, her favourite type of piano, at The Crossing in Worksop. She occasionally plays the organ at the local church too. As she has her own electronic piano at home, she practices daily and is looking forward to the concert next month.
