In this weeks blog two Sutherland House School Students tell us about their experience completing the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award. Thank you to both Gabriel and Thomas for sharing their experience!
Hi, my name is Gabriel, last year I completed my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh at school and I would like to tell you about it. When we got to Walesby the first thing we did was put our tents up. We had to sleep in the tents for one night. Here I am getting my tent ready with Thomas , Luke and Margaret.
We went for a long walk in the forest. It was a nice day for a walk.
We had to cook our tea on camp cookers. We had pasta and burgers, Christopher cooked our pasta. I really liked cooking outside on the cookers. After tea we all took turns to wash and dry the pots.Thomas is washing the pots here.I enjoyed going on the walk, it was a long way but it was fun.
Hi my name is Thomas. Last year I completed my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh at school, it was really fun and I would like to tell you a bit about it. Here we all are at the end of a very long walk. Phew we are tired. Richard showed us how to read maps over the year and we used them to help us find our way.
For tea, using the stove, I made burgers. It smelt and tasted so good. Mick helped me to cook my burgers.
After tea it was time for us all to wash the pots. I washed and Joseph dried. Here I found a cat strolling across the table in the washing up area. I stroked the cat and it felt soft.
I made ham sandwich for my lunch. I took my lunch on the walk. I really enjoyed Bronze Duke of Edinburgh especially sharing a tent with my friend Joseph.
