Apprentice Jacob Soons shares his experiences from his first two weeks at Autism East Midlands

Hi, I am Jacob Soons, I am 20 years old, and I am nearing the end of my first two weeks as a Marketing and Communications Officer Apprentice.

My first day at AEM was getting settled in.

I met Hannah, who is a Marketing and Communications Officer, who has been helping me throughout my first two weeks with various tasks. One standout moment was creating my first public post on the AEM website.

Some of the projects and/or tasks that I have been working on are:

  • Updating the staff intranet with new stories
  • Updating the main AEM website with the intranet stories
  • Creating appealing content on multiple platforms
  • Doing competitor research
Competitor analysis

The reason why I chose AEM is because of the things that I will be doing on a day-to-day basis, such as creating appealing content for multiple platforms and updating the AEM website.

I have also been to some of the different services that AEM offer such as the Old Fire Station in Worksop and the Dukeries Training Centre in Worksop to have a look around, meet the lovely people there and get involved with their duties.

I want to thank the whole AEM team for this opportunity and I am excited for what the future holds and can’t wait to create more special memories to look back on in years to come.
