Are you committed and passionate about delivering ambitious and engaging learning experiences for autistic children and young people?
We are looking for an innovative and motivated leader to join our established team as Curriculum Lead.
This is a real opportunity to make a difference for the children and young people that we teach. This role combines strategic leadership with classroom practice, enabling you to influence provision across the school whilst maintaining direct involvement in teaching and learning through a 0.5 teaching commitment.
Sutherland House School is a non-maintained special school for autistic children and young people aged 3-19. The school is in the heart of the Creative Quarter in the City Centre, located near the Sneinton Avenues market area.
At Sutherland House School, Positive Behaviour Support and Person-Centred approaches are of paramount importance, and you will be able to contribute to the continued strategic and operational development of these. We offer small class groups, high staffing ratios and excellent opportunities for training and continued professional development.
As a middle leader, you will play a critical role in the strategic development of the curriculum across the school. You will work closely with senior leaders and colleagues to ensure that the curriculum remains ambitious, relevant and responsive to the needs of our pupils.
You will lead curriculum development, support staff in curriculum implementation, monitor consistency of delivery and evaluate impact on pupil outcomes. You will contribute to ensuring that learning opportunities promote academic achievement, personal development, communication, independence and preparation for adulthood.
Working collaboratively with leaders and staff, you will support the continued development of a coherent and engaging curriculum that delivers consistently good experiences for all pupils and prepares them for successful futures.
The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with a strong understanding of curriculum design, teaching and learning and school improvement.
Previous experience of curriculum leadership, curriculum development or working within a SEND environment is desirable, although full training and support will be provided.
Visits by prior arrangement are encouraged, please contact shs.admin@aem.org.uk or the school office to arrange a visit with one of our senior leaders.
