We're pleased to announce that Support Worker Kirsty, who supports our amazing service users at the Sherwood Centre, was recently nominated at the Proud to Care awards for her incredible dedication and service to the people we support.

The awards are run by Nottinghamshire County Council and ran for the first time last year, aiming "to recognise and celebrate people in a wide range of social care roles in care homes, day care services, home care, supported living and administration, who make a real difference and change the lives of the people they support."

Kirsty works at our Sherwood Centre, which is one of our four day services that supports autistic adults by providing flexible day opportunities for person-centred support and a host of user-led activities.

Last year, two members of staff were nominated at the Proud to Care awards. Autism East Midlands' Painting and Decorating Lead Matt won an award and Irene, Support Worker at Carlton Road, was also nominated.

Kirsty's nomination read:

Kirsty is a passionate support worker. She leads the monthly Voice group, empowering individuals to shape their own activities. Kirsty goes above and beyond organising everything from seaside trips and farm visits to princess days, rugby training and even puppy therapy.

She secured a £2,000 grant from Toyota to upgrade the garden and regularly donates resources to the woodwork department. Kirsty also planned the centre's 10-year anniversary celebration and coordinated a 7-week dance workshop with a final performance. Her creativity, dedication and care make a lasting impact.

As one colleague puts it, 'Kirsty's commitment to people is second to none.'
