Independence shines at Whitegates for laundry Lee

Lee loves doing laundry.
Lee's favourite thing ever is doing anything related to laundry.
So when he joined our Whitegates Respite Service, based in Worksop, he was so excited to find out that Whitegates has its very own laundry room!
Staff began supporting Lee with washing clothes and gave Lee full control as to what scent to use, so when Lee was at a nearby shop, he chose his favourite Lenor.
Lee started going around each apartment at our respite, door-to-door, collecting any laundry and towels from the other people we support.

The service users were very grateful of Lee’s kind offer and gave him laundry, which he was pleased with.
When Lee put the laundry and a cup of washing softener in, the room filled up with a cool breeze scent. The washing machine rattled as it washed the clothes.
After the clothes had been washed, Lee put all clothes into the dryer and after a few moments, he returned the clothes to the service users.
Service users were very grateful from Lee's efforts in washing and drying their clothes for them.
Domestic skills such as washing and drying clothes are not always an easy thing for the people we support to learn, so we're thrilled to see that Lee has found something he enjoys and is supporting his fellow housemates at the same time.
Lee now has his own keys for the laundry room and can now independently wash and dry clothes for his fellow housemates whenever he likes!
