A Week at Whitegates

We welcomed a graduate into Whitegates this week, supported a service user with cooking breakfast and saw a special performance
Ashton
We're proud to share that service user Ashton graduated college this week, and with his birthday also coming up, staff wanted to give Ashton a big surprise for his efforts.
We presented him with his very own chocolate cake, which we're told tasted absolutely delicious. He was very pleased with our choice!
Aside from the fun and games, we've done a lot of work with our service users recently in developing independent living skills.
Morgan
Morgan, who is relatively new to our Whitegates respite service, made a big step towards independence this week.
One of the key skills that we try to support our service users with learning is the ability to cook and create their own food, as this goes a long way towards them being more independent.
On one particular morning, Morgan didn't just fix up her own breakfast, but helped cook a breakfast for all the other people we support staying at respite that day.
We're all so thankful and pleased to see Morgan making such progress.
Nick and David
Whitegates recently ran our annual summer party, where service users across our services could socialise, enjoy some good BBQ food and spend time with one another.
Service user Nick and staff member Wade spent many weeks rehearsing a performance of 'Ferry across the Mersey', originally originally performed by Gerry & the Pacemakers.
We're so pleased at how far all the people we support have come and look forward to their continued successes at our respite service.

Over 25?
If you or somebody you know is over 25 and shows signs of autism, the next step is to book an appointment with your GP. Make sure your diagnosis is the only thing you are seeing your GP about. If you try to mention it during a consultation about another subject, your GP may not address it fully.
