Autism East Midlands are set to proudly host the ‘Working with Autism’ Business Networking Event On Friday 6th October 2017, 12-2pm.
The event will be held at Rolls-Royce Learning and Development Centre in Derby supported by Rolls Royce, Notts County Football Club and Sunshine Recruitment.
This interactive networking event will allow invited guests including local policy makers, business leaders and key individuals from the world of work to meet to ask not only “What can we do? But more importantly what can we do differently?” when supporting people with autism in the workplace.

Around 50,000 people in the East Midlands have autism; however, only 16% of autistic adults are in full time employment with a further 16% in other paid work. The outlook for young adults with autism spectrum conditions is often challenging. They have some of the lowest general and graduate employment rates in the country.
Figures show that in Derby 2,587 children and adults are believed to have an autistic spectrum condition, and of this figure 1,653 are of working age. In Derbyshire (excluding Derby) 7,784 children and adults are believed to have an autistic spectrum condition of which 4,810 are of working age.*
This is an opportunity to showcase some of the fantastic work local companies are doing in supporting employees on the autistic spectrum and what great employees autistic adults make. Many things are more challenging for autistic people, but not impossible, and these challenges can be made substantially easier by small adjustments to routines, language and environments.
