Full Time – 37 hours per week, £18,487 per annum

Autism East Midlands are looking for permanent Residential Support Workers to work within our newly established service in Ravenshead where your focus will be on delivering planned and unplanned respite.

This is an exciting opportunity that needs practitioners who have a strong skill set and are able to adapt quickly to changing environments.

This is reflected in the salary for the duration of this specific contract.

Full Time – 37 hours per week, £18,487 per annum

A little about this service…

In this service you will be working with individuals whom have;

  • Planned stays:  Mainly, providing a break for families or as we like to describe, “taking a break from my family”
  • Unplanned stays:  ‘Set aside’ support for individuals whose provision simply cannot be planned and is more urgent,e.g. when someone has been living in the community during a period of instability and respite is an appropriate short term solution until they are able to return to their ordinary home

Either setting means that you will be required to get to know people and their needs quickly and in a really person centred way.

As a support worker in this particular setting your day will look like…

  • You will be assigned key individuals and play a pivotal role in the period they receive support, attending reviews and liaising closely with external agencies
  • Support people to settle in to the short term provision and with their social and community inclusion
  • Be the person’s champion and as part of the wider team strive to ensure that they achieve their aspirations and full potential
  • Manage the well-being and Positive behaviour of Autistic Adults, ensuring that their needs beliefs and cultural values are met
  • Be part of writing and maintaining of Positive Behavioural Support Plans, Risk Assessments and Session Plans.
  • Supporting a person with personal care and other complex health needs, ensuring that persons dignity and independence is promoted
  • Receiving and cascading specific additional training from internal and external partners in order to deliver the very best support
  • Form part of de brief and learning exercises to continually improve the service to those who undertake respite provision  – with the support of our internal and external partners
