An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist/Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist with post graduate sensory integration training to join the team at Sutherland House School, Nottingham.
This post is equivalent to AfC Band 6/7 SP21 – 34, £30,401 – £43,772 pro rata (depending on qualifications and experience).
This is a permanent full time role (annualised hours or term time only contracts will be considered).
As one of the biggest charitable organisations in the East Midlands, Autism East Midlands offer a wide range of services supporting people affected by Autism, including family services, a specialist school (4-19yrs), a range of 14 day and residential services for our adult service users across Nottinghamshire.
We are currently seeking to recruit a professionally qualified and HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with qualifications and experience in SI to work as part of the Clinical services team based in children’s service at Sutherland House School, Nottingham.
This post requires an empathic, creative and skilled therapist, with relavent experience working with children and young people with Autism and complex learning needs within a specialist school environment. You will be responsible for working collaboratively within the multi disciplinary team, including school staff, to provide effective interventions, advice, and support for the children, young people and their families/carers. You will support the continued development of occupational therapy services within school:
- by providing advice and training for staff
- by assisting pupil’s with their functional and motor skills and supporting their sensory needs within the educational context
- by providing direct therapeutic input as indicated by EHC Plans
- by providing pupil’s who have sensory integration needs with appropriate sensory diet
You will manage a targeted caseload and work in collaboration with staff, other agencies, families and carers.
The Clinical team in school currently includes speech therapy, therapy assistant, psychology and psychology assistant. We are a friendly and supportive team. As well as regular line management supervision and CPD clinical CPD will be provided through an external provider..
