Silly Sock Day is back!
Stand out and stand up for autistic people
On Friday 26 March we are asking schools, businesses, community groups and other organisations to stand out in their silliest socks and stand up for autism, by helping to raise awareness and invaluable funds for Autism East Midlands.
Create your own (or treat yourself to some new) socks that are just plain silly and join others across the region wearing their silly socks in support of people with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).
The aim of #SillySockDay is simple:
- To get everyone in the East Midlands talking about autism
Whether at work, at school, at home, or as part of a group, take some time on this day to consider people with autism. Do you know what autism is? Is there anything you can do to make your environment at work or school better for them? Our aim is to get everyone to stop and consider for one day what it is like to be on the autistic spectrum and take a step towards making a positive difference.
- To raise money to help autistic people in the East Midlands
By raising funds or donating this Silly Sock Day, you are helping autistic people across the East Midlands to dream bigger, live better and enjoy life more.
Pull up your silly socks and let’s step out together for autism!

“Colourful socks and big engines don’t seem like a natural fit but being able to mix what we do every day with such a great cause just felt natural. It was great and a fun moment to share with our colleagues and see that we can work together in cutting edge technology and to try and change society for the better.” – OJ Hemmings, Rolls Royce.
“The DHL Bawtry Campus had fun promoting and taking part in the Silly Sock Day. Autism East Midlands is a fantastic charity, carrying out good work around our region.” – Emma Wallhead, DHL.
