Our country – and indeed, the world – faces one of the most significant challenges in living memory. Clearly, our region is not insulated from the threat of Covid-19, and during this difficult time Autism East Midlands is following the evolving advice from central government and public health bodies closely.
Autism East Midlands value all the businesses, organisations, and schools who have signed up to take part in Silly Sock Day. We appreciate their dedication to supporting autistic individuals and making a difference – thank you.
It is however with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of Silly Sock Day 2020. The peak of Covid-19 is expected to occur around the time Silly Sock Day was scheduled for. We know that many of our partners are grappling with significant changes to their usual practices, so it does not seem either prudent or possible to deliver such an event during this time.
The wider event of Autism Awareness Week will continue (WC 30th March), and we will share stories and facts throughout the week on our website and social media channels, as well as offering some virtual sessions which you may wish to access. Please watch our website and social media channels for further details of these.
We appreciate the understanding and support we receive from all our friends at this time.
