Last week Sutherland House School were invited to participate in a Multi Sports event organised by Nottingham City Council held at, the Harvey Haddon Sports Centre in Bilborough.
The students who participated were able to take on three sports, which included: Dodgeball, Kurling and Athletics. These sports were organised by the sports department at the Harvey Haddon Sports Centre with the officials being students on various stages of their Sports Leader award. Due to time restraints Sutherland House School was only able to participate in Dodgeball and Kurlling, as the team had to leave before the indoor athletic relay started.
This was only the second time some of the students had played Dodgeball, and the first time they had tried Kurling. Sutherland House School teacher, Richard Gennard, who looks after sports at the School mentioned how, “the students represented the school in a very positive manner and played the game fairly and to the rules. The students displayed great teamwork and communication. The schools that we played against included: Bluecoat, Bramcote and Wollaton.”
Those students who participated really enjoyed the day and Sutherland House School is grateful to Nottingham City Council for organising such events.
