Sutherland House School students have been enjoying a weekly DJ session which is being delivered in their computing classes. The sessions have given the students the opportunity from “scratch” to set up all the audio connections & wiring, link a Raspberry Pi computer to the system and start to mix tracks using the mixing desks.
Students have enjoyed the sessions and had the opportunity to mix their favourite music, add effects and sample aspect of tracks. They have developed their cue techniques which has allowed their track to flow uninterrupted.
Students have been getting extremely creative during these sessions with one student particularly enjoying adjusting the pitch of songs, which has been fascinating to see, he will slow down the track and then increases the pitch when the beat drops in.
All this fantastic work will hopefully be put to good use at class Christmas parties!!
