What is it?
For the first time ever, the organisers of the London Marathon are inviting participants to run, walk, or jog the London Marathon their way, joining up to 45,000 runners up and down the UK – and across the world.
Autism East Midlands has some places in this event to give away to dedicated volunteers who want to take on this challenge on Sunday October 4th and fundraise to support our work.
Upon completion of the challenge, participants will receive the coveted Virgin Money London Marathon medal and New Balance finisher T-shirt.
The virtual 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon will take place on Sunday 4 October and participants will have 23 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds (from 00:00 to 23:59:59 BST) to complete the 26.2 miles, which they can choose to run, walk or jog – making the event the most inclusive London Marathon ever.
The Official 40th Race app will enable participants to log their 26.2 miles and earn the coveted Virgin Money London Marathon medal and New Balance finisher T-shirt.
As well as allowing them to track and log their run, the app will help bring the virtual experience to life, with an exclusive audio commentary featuring famous voices providing a memorable soundtrack to the day.
Taking part in the Virgin Money London Marathon, your way, also means participants can be creative with the challenge that lies ahead! Ideas include:
- Being dropped 26.2 miles from home and running back to a hero’s welcome
- Completing each mile with a different running buddy, sharing the challenge with friends and family
- Getting together with a group of friends to walk the 26.2miles together
- Creating a unique course that visits the homes of friends and family so they can set up outdoor drinks stations for a refuel and catch-up over an energy bar
With loved ones and their community supporting them, participants will be joining thousands of runners in a celebration of everything the London Marathon embodies – fun, fundraising, fancy-dress and amazing community spirit.
We need your help! Due to the Coronavirus pandemic we, like many other UK charities, have lost a significant amount of income. If you agree to take part in the virtual event we will support you in setting up a fundraising page and making the most of this opportunity to do good.
Please email email@example.com or call 01909 506 678 and ask for the fundraising team.
The deadline for applications is September 15th, but places may be allocated before then so be quick!
We look forward to hearing from you.
