Who for: Personal assistants, families, volunteers, other professional and anyone with an interest in autism. Anyone looking for introductory training in autism who has had little experience or no formal/accredited training at this level. This course can be delivered in-house or at a venue of your choice.
This course is for anyone wanting an introductory awareness of the autism spectrum. It provides learners with key areas of knowledge and explores important themes such as:
- Current thinking around diagnosis and prevalence
- Identifying individuals strengths and abilities
- Communication and information processing
- Recognising and supporting sensory issues
- Understanding anxiety and intensity of focus
The main objectives for the training are to enable people to feel and be more confident working with autistic people and provide strategies and knowledge of autism friendly adjustments that can ensure that autistic people are not limited by the people and the environment around them.
