Synopsis: This course is designed as a short two hour programme for parents and siblings of autistic individuals to examine how we can best support individuals with difficult to manage behaviours.
We look at autism and the four key areas of differences and how all behaviour is a form of communication, examining what behaviours can be viewed as challenging, as well as self-injurious behaviour.
The course covers health and challenging behaviour as well as how functional assessment can help with predicting outcomes.
We also look at behavioural management supportive strategies and promoting well being with the autistic individual.
Obviously due to extensive course content, we can only give an overview of these issues and run further training courses which drill down deeper into each particular category.
For example we provide autism training for practitioners, autism in women and girls, Pathological demand avoidance , autism and Mental health, autism and ageing, autism and sensory issues courses, all of which are detailed on our website.
