A detailed safeguarding policy is in place and available on the School Policies page here.
All staff are familiar with the policy and have been trained in safeguarding procedures. All staff have an enhanced DBS that is obtained prior to employment and renewed every 3 years. Students can also expect to be taught and cared for by staff who demonstrate a good understanding of autism and its impact upon our students.
We seek to offer all students an environment in which they can expect to be treated as individuals, with courtesy, and have their values and views respected.
Autism East Midlands employs a Qualified Health & Safety Manager. All potentially hazardous activities are formally assessed as to the degree of risk and appropriate steps taken to minimise that risk.
Where students have specific medical needs we work closely with relevant professionals to manage these needs. If there is a need to administer medication, staff have the relevant training and qualifications to facilitate this.
