SANTA Claus is returning to intu Broadmarsh, Nottingham this Christmas (24 November – 24 December 2017) in collaboration with beloved toy maker PLAYMOBIL. Autism East Midlands has supported the team at intu to ensure everyone can join in the festive fun.

intu Broadmarsh has taken steps to ensure all children can experience its grotto and has rolled out special Autism Hours during December. As part of the Autism Hours – which take place on 5th, 6th, 12th  and 13th  December 2017 from 11am until 12pm – there will be no online booking option available and only walk-in visits, allowing the grotto to be a calmer environment for those with autism.

As well as building excitement for the big day by getting to meet the big man himself, children will receive a PLAYMOBIL gift and can even win an entire PLAYMOBIL range of their choice by posting a letter to Father Christmas using intu’s PLAYMOBIL post box.

The grotto, which is on the lower mall next to Poundworld, is one of six being launched this month in partnership with Playmobil at intu centres up and down the country.

Nigel Wheatley from intu centres in Nottingham said:

We’re excited to be bringing one of the world’s best known toy manufacturers back to intu Broadmarsh to give all the children in Nottingham the chance to receive a free PLAYMOBIL gift.

We’re also pleased to be working in partnership with Autism East Midlands to roll out the autism hours at our grotto this year. In the summer, we held an Autism Hour and had a fantastic response from shoppers, who felt the initiative was a step in the right direction for those with autism and their families. The autism hours will help those with autism to enjoy the festivities without loud noises, crowds or bright lights.

Linda Wakeham  Autism East Midlands said:

Working with the team at intu Broadmarsh has been a very rewarding experience. intu have been very responsive to the needs of individuals with autism. We would like to thank intu for arranging an autism relaxed hour and taking the time to ensure that all children can experience and enjoy the Christmas Grotto.

Jamie Dickinson, Marketing Manager from PLAYMOBIL, said:

We can’t wait to team up with intu again this year with the launch of the grotto here at intu Broadmarsh and across the country. We are looking forward to spreading some Christmas cheer to families in Nottingham and encouraging imaginative, creative play by children during the festive season.

The grotto opens on Friday 24 November and will be open every day until Christmas Eve.

Visits are priced at £4.95 for children and includes a free gift. For more information about opening times and the grotto, please visit: Santa’s Grotto intu Broadmarsh.
