  • Information Processing and Sensory Issues
    9:00 am-4:30 pm
    Thursday, February 2nd, 2017

    Who for:

    Personal assistants, families, volunteers, other professionals and anyone with an interest in understanding the strengths and challenges faced by individuals with autism.

    Synopsis:

    This course aims to promote a greater awareness of the difficulties experienced by some individuals in motivation, planning, sequencing and prioritising, managing change and transition.  Self reflection and self monitoring, working memory skills and time scale awareness.  We explore the impact of this on communication, social life, life skills, education and work.  The course also covers person centred sensory support and explores sensory integration issues and autism.

    Duration:

    1 full day

    Cost:

    £50 + VAT per delegate for our in-house course

  • Autism in Women and Girls – half day

    Friday, February 3rd, 2017

    Who for:

    Anyone looking to enhance their knowledge and explore areas around diagnosis and support for women and girls.  This day will be of particular interest to those who want to learn more about the issues surrounding the diagnosis of and support for women and girls who are on the autism spectrum.

    Synopsis:

    This course provides an awareness of the autism spectrum condition in women and girls.  It provides learners with key areas of knowledge and explores important themes such as the diagnosis of women and girls, social skills and communication, anxiety and useful coping strategies.

    Duration:

    3 hours

    Cost:

    £30 + VAT per delegate for our in-house course, or £200 + VAT for an external course (up to 20 delegates)

  • Newark Family Support hub

    These are drop-in sessions where the whole family can attend.

    The Family Support Hubs provide a regular meeting point for families affected by autism, where they can access activities for children, as well as gain support, specialist training and advice.

    Thanks to funding from the Big Lottery Fund, we are pleased to be able to deliver support to over 600 families in the region through the establishment of our Autism Family Support Hubs.

  • Worksop Family Support Hub

    This session is geared towards the needs of teenagers and is for young people aged 11+ and their families. There is another group ‘The Best That We Can Be’ which is for younger children and is held on the third Tuesday of each month**

    These are drop in sessions where the whole family can attend and provide a regular meeting point for families affected by autism, where they can access activities for children, as well as gain support, specialist training and advice.

    It is held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 4pm to 8pm at Dukeries Autism Resource Centre, run by Autism East Midlands, in Worksop.

  • Autism Training for Practitioners

    Autism Training for Practitioners (incorporating the Dignity Challenge) (Ref ATP)

    Who for:

    Anyone who has an intensive contact with a person with autism or high impact on their personal outcome.

    This course can also be delivered in-house or at a venue of your choice.

    Synopsis:

    This course provides an awareness of the autism spectrum. It provides learners with key areas of knowledge and explores important themes such as current thinking around diagnosis and prevalence, identifying individuals’ strengths and abilities, communication and information processing, recognising and supporting sensory issues, understanding anxiety and intensity of focus.

    Duration: 6 hours

    Cost: £50 + VAT per delegate for our in-house course, or £500 + VAT for an external course (up to 20 delegates)

    Time: Registration at 9.00am for 9.30am – 4.30pm

  • An Evening with East Midlands Footballing Legends
