    Introduction to autism and Mental Health (Ref AMH)

    Who for:

    Personal assistants, families, volunteers, other professionals and anyone with an interest in exploring the impact mental health can have on someone with an autism spectrum condition.

    This course can also be delivered in-house or at a venue of your choice.

    Synopsis:

    This course provides an understanding of mental health and the impact it can have on people with an autism spectrum condition. It provides learners with key areas of knowledge and explores important themes such as understanding the needs and experiences of people with a mental health condition, the benefits of structured approaches and the importance of promoting positive health and wellbeing.

    Duration:

    6 hours

    Cost:

    £50 + VAT per delegate for our in-house course, or £500 + VAT for an external course (up to 20 delegates)

    Time:

    Registration at 9.00am

  • Understanding Sensory Issues in Autism

    This Parent Workshop will explore the sensory world of children and young people on the spectrum. It will consider the implications for adaptive and adjusting the environment to meet the needs of young people with autism.

  • Newark Family Support hub

    These are drop-in sessions where the whole family can attend.

    The Family Support Hubs provide a regular meeting point for families affected by autism, where they can access activities for children, as well as gain support, specialist training and advice.

    Thanks to funding from the Big Lottery Fund, we are pleased to be able to deliver support to over 600 families in the region through the establishment of our Autism Family Support Hubs.

    Autism Training for Practitioners (incorporating the Dignity Challenge) (Ref ATP)

    Who for:

    Anyone who has an intensive contact with a person with autism or high impact on their personal outcome.

    This course can also be delivered in-house or at a venue of your choice.

    Synopsis:

    This course provides an awareness of the autism spectrum. It provides learners with key areas of knowledge and explores important themes such as current thinking around diagnosis and prevalence, identifying individuals’ strengths and abilities, communication and information processing, recognising and supporting sensory issues, understanding anxiety and intensity of focus.

    Duration:6 hours

  • Best That We Can Be

  • Supporting Young People with their Stress & Anxiety

    Children and adults with ASD often experience high levels of anxiety and stress that can impact negatively upon their lives.  This workshop considers why this is often the case and promotes ways of managing stress and anxiety for young people on the spectrum and their families.
