    These are drop-in sessions where the whole family can attend.

    The Family Support Hubs provide a regular meeting point for families affected by autism, where they can access activities for children, as well as gain support, specialist training and advice.

    Thanks to funding from the Big Lottery Fund, we are pleased to be able to deliver support to over 600 families in the region through the establishment of our Autism Family Support Hubs.

    Autism East Midlands provide a range of flexible support service to children and young people affected by autism spectrum conditions aged between 5 and 19 years old. The Play and Leisure Service in Gainsborough will offer this age group the opportunity to take part and access a varied activity programme throughout the year.

    “Joining the Mayor, Cllr Kate Allsop and Sir Alan Meale MP, visitors will be able find out about autism, our services and the support we provide for the people of Mansfield and the surrounding area” said Christine Saxon, Development Lead

     

    “Figures show that in Mansfield & Ashfield alone over 2,000 children and adults have an autistic spectrum condition. The impact of autism is felt right across the community and we are endeavouring to support all communities in the East Midlands to become more autism-friendly.”

    Autism East Midlands are grateful to individuals, families, groups and businesses for their support during the past year and look forward to having the same support for the coming year for our work with adults and young children with autism in the East Midlands.

  • Worksop Family Support Hub for 11+

    This session is geared towards the needs of teenagers and is for young people aged 11+ and their families. There is another group ‘The Best That We Can Be’ which is for younger children and is held on the third Tuesday of each month**

    These are drop in sessions where the whole family can attend and provide a regular meeting point for families affected by autism, where they can access activities for children, as well as gain support, specialist training and advice.

    The hub takes place every 3rd Saturday of each month 11am-3pm.

  • Autism in Women and Girls – half day

    Who for:

    Anyone looking to enhance their knowledge and explore areas around diagnosis and support for women and girls.  This day will be of particular interest to those who want to learn more about the issues surrounding the diagnosis of and support for women and girls who are on the autism spectrum.

    Synopsis:

    This course provides an awareness of the autism spectrum condition in women and girls.  It provides learners with key areas of knowledge and explores important themes such as the diagnosis of women and girls, social skills and communication, anxiety and useful coping strategies.

    Duration:

    3 hours

    Cost:

    £30 + VAT per delegate for our in-house course, or £200 + VAT for an external course (up to 20 delegates)

    Who for:

    Personal assistants, families, volunteers, other professionals and anyone with an interest in autism.  Anyone looking for introductory training in autism who have no formal/accredited training at this level.

    This course can be delivered in house or at a venue of your choice.

    Synopsis:

    This course provides an introductory awareness of the autism spectrum.  It provides learners with key areas of knowledge and explores important themes such as individuality, communication, behaviour and person centred support.

    Duration:

    2 hours

    Cost:

  • Pathway to Adulthood – Leicestershire Conference

    Autism East Midlands is pleased to be working in partnership with Glebe House in Loughborough, to provide the Pathway to Adulthood conference on 25th April 2017. 

    Transition into young adulthood is a time of increased independence and exploring new opportunities in further learning and employment. It is an exciting time of life but can also feel daunting and this conference will provide an introduction to the choices and options available to autistic young adults, their families and carers, and professionals who work with them.

    Autism Training for Practitioners (incorporating the Dignity Challenge) (Ref ATP)

    Who for:

    Anyone who has an intensive contact with a person with autism or high impact on their personal outcome.

    This course can also be delivered in-house or at a venue of your choice.

    Synopsis:

    This course provides an awareness of the autism spectrum. It provides learners with key areas of knowledge and explores important themes such as current thinking around diagnosis and prevalence, identifying individuals’ strengths and abilities, communication and information processing, recognising and supporting sensory issues, understanding anxiety and intensity of focus.

    Duration: 6 hours

    Cost: £50 + VAT per delegate for our in-house course, or £500 + VAT for an external course (up to 20 delegates)
